#73Jets’n'Guns was easily one of the best games that has been offered here before, so having the Gold version this time around is a nice bonus.Sure, it may not live up to some peoples' expectations, but this isn't the same game(s) you may remember. Is it better than the ones that have come before? I would say that this game is better than some of the better known and more successful/popular games that have come and gone. But quite frankly, the majority of games fall into a category that's already well populated; I wouldn't call it lack of originality - it's more a matter of sticking with what you know already works. There's enough extra stuff besides the usual complement of weapon and armor upgrades to keep you going, if you are willing and able to look beyond the weak 'story' and the been here, killed that mentality. It may be 'just' a 2D horizontal shooter, but a game does not have to be 3D to be good. Though JNG Gold has a resolution of 'only' 800 X 600 (higher than the regular version), it should still look the same on higher resolutions. I moved mine up to 1600 X 1200 just to see how well it scaled up and it looks just as good - I don't see any difference whatsoever between my usual resolutions (I use two, depending on what I'm doing with the computer) and what the highest my monitor and video card can support is.The graphics are nicely done, though I did notice a couple minor issues with placement of some stuff in the regular version when I played before. The music by Machinae Supremacy is pretty good, though not everyone may like that kind of music, and the sounds seem to work well for this game.I haven't played a whole lot of this one yet, having gotten back home about an hour ago.

To be honest, I haven't been stopping by GOTD as often as I used to, but I'm glad that I did today, otherwise I would've missed out on one of the best offers to date. I fear I may not get anything done for a while longer, now that I have this to blast through. Thanks to Rake In Grass and the GOTD team for bring this back, better than ever.

It may not be for everyone, but if you can look past the fact that it's not full of eye candy and other technical oozings and can tolerate the humor and atmosphere of JNG, you'll have a good time with this one.Apologies in advance if my spelling is really bad or something doesn't make sense - or both. I'm exhausted and barely on this side of being awake, and not for much longer. #62I wasn’t going to bother downloading today’s giveaway because I bought it ages ago, though the file I have is annoying because whenever I have to reinstall it I have to get it verified by the company I bought it from. Okay, a good thing for stopping software piracy you may say, but when you want to install the game to a computer that stubbornly refuses to connect to the internet you're unable to install and play the game. To cut to the case. I was curious to see if today’s giveaway was anything like last weeks offering from Rake in Grass; that is whether it was free standing. I checked the registry and found no trace of either the games name or the developer, so tried copying the game to one of my other computers (i.e. The one that stubbornly refuses to connect) and it works perfectly. This will now save me so much bother.

I really appreciate you giving away the Gold version which as already mentioned has so much more to offer than the original.I'm getting back into playing this game again, and finally have set it on the most difficult setting as previously I found it too manic.Wish me luck, lol.Marc comment #54:Sorry for not including the controls in my review this morning. I was writing it till 4am in the morning and was falling asleep as I wrote it so forgot to include that information. You can use both mouse and keyboard or a combination of both.JM comment #52; I agree Serious Sam would be a brilliant giveaway but it's very unlikely that any Serious Sam game would be given away here; however you can get the first Serious Sam with it's expansion (Serious Sam the first and second encounters) for less than the cost of an arcade game. (It's available from www.mastertronic.com and is one of the PCGamer presents games.

I bought the second Serious Sam game as a digital download from fileplanet and am waiting for the third one to be released at the end of this year. It promises to be a great sequel (which Serious Sam 2 wasn't). I actually bought the games for my son, but he says they are too easy for him now, lol.Mike Comment #36 the original only had 20 levels so once you pass tat you'll know, lol, though another way would be to download the demo from Rake in Grass and check it out. You'll see it's exactly the same. (Though if you do I'd copy your giveaway version to somewhere safe) Also in the original Jets and Guns, there are two glaring differences in the main menu. The logo from the original is all one color that looks like rusted metal, whereas the Gold version, the words Jets ‘n’ Guns is written in Gold, also in the original, below the logo there is a small sentence written in white which reads:“Caddish Unfair Attack of Xoxx’ stellar B.ds.

I think this was removed because of the language. Also there are only 10 avatars to choose from as opposed to thirty odd. The levels of difficulty are presented with different names for example in the original the easiest level is called Novice whereas in the Gold edition it’s called Too fat to die, both of the other two difficulty levels are also different. In the original it’s Standard Hero and Veteran whereas in the Gold edition it’s Normal and Hard, and finally in the standard edition you don’t get the choice to buy any bombs in the first levels.

I hope those differences are enough to convince you that you have the gold edition, lol.Hey from one rabbit to another Hi Purple Rabbit. Today’s version is not the same as the one we got last May and October, it's twice the size with respect to the number of levels it has plus there are loads of extra's.

The original was only around 74Mb in size, whereas the gold version is nearly 93Mb.p.s.I’ve just checked the availability of the original Serious Sam and Mastertronic no longer stock it, but they do sell Serious Sam 2 for less than $10 which is brilliant. It’s over 2Gb in size so downloading it is a bind, though you can get the DVD from Mastertronic.
